Interlibrary Loan, Tokens, and Document Delivery
When you need an article in a journal that the Library does not subscribe to, we have several ways to get it for you. All are available through LibrarySearch and all are at no cost to you.
Interlibrary Loan
This is the traditional system in which we obtain a PDF from another library. It usually takes less than a day, sometimes within an hour, if all citation information, including journal ISSN, is provided.
The Library may pay a fee depending on the lending library.
All students, faculty, and staff can make ILL requests.
Requests can be initiated by filling out an ILL form, or by clicking on the Request via Interlibrary Loan link in LibrarySearch. We recommend initiating through LibrarySearch so that all citation information is automatically supplied to the form.
Tokens
We provide instantaneous access to current Wiley journals through tokens. We do not pay yearly subscriptions to journals from this publisher, but rather pay a fee every time an article is downloaded.
Do not hesitate to download an article that you need, but please save the PDF locally to avoid duplicative fees. Be aware that if the same article is available on JSTOR or other databases, it can alternatively be downloaded from those platforms without incurring a fee. Availability on other platforms is visible in LibrarySearch results.
All students, faculty, and staff can use tokens.
You will see the token option for relevant journals on the Wiley platform.
Document Delivery - Starting January 2026
Beginning in January 2026, for select journals published by Elsevier and Springer, we supplement interlibrary loan with document delivery through a service called Article Galaxy Scholar.
Requested PDFs are available instantly, and you will also receive an email message with a link to download the article. This PDF will be available for download for 60 days or until the link within the email is clicked on five times, whichever comes first. For continued access to the article, please download the PDF and save it to your computer.
The Library pays a fee for each requested article.
Document delivery is available to faculty, staff, and students who are writing theses. Other students may use interlibrary loan.
To use this service, search for the journal article you are seeking in LibrarySearch then follow the Request a PDF link.
If the article you are requesting is available through Article Galaxy Scholar, and you are eligible to make requests, you will be automatically routed to Article Galaxy Scholar when you click on Request a PDF in LibrarySearch.
